What comes from Plonk It

Meta titles, descriptions and images come from Plonk It, © 2021-2026 Plonk It, published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International licence. Every meta carries a “source” link back to its original page.

The material has been modified: the texts were restructured, and each meta was paired with a geographic area that does not exist in the source.

What comes from this project

The geographic areas are built by hand, one at a time: a person chooses and assembles every one, out of freehand contours, rectangles, and — for many of them — administrative boundaries (see below). This project's own tracing and assembly is published under the same CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 licence — ShareAlike leaves no choice, and none is wanted. The site's source code is distributed separately under the MIT licence.

Administrative boundaries

Many areas are built from, or clipped to, country and first-level administrative boundaries published by Natural Earth. That data is public domain and asks for no attribution. The CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 licence above covers this project's tracing and assembly of those areas, not the underlying Natural Earth boundaries themselves, which remain public domain.

Imagery

The meta screenshots come from Google Street View. Plonk It's Creative Commons licence covers their annotations and their composition, not the underlying imagery, which remains © Google. Watermarks present in the original images have not been removed. The basemap is © OpenStreetMap contributors.

Non-commercial use
